Well, yesterday I did my first practice and today the second. And I have to say that I just LOVE practicing in the morning. I mean, yeah, I have practiced in the morning before. But not that early and not Mysore style. It would be either home practice where I'd be by myself or led practice at some studio. Mysore style is so different and beautiful.
For one, I love that our shala windows face the east. When I get there it is still dark outside but before I finish the Sun Salutations the sun is rising. Now I can talk about sun salutations literally! It feels so great starting your day this way. Also, when I did the evening led class I always had trouble sleeping because I felt too energized to sleep. Now I start my day with all this energy, calmer and clearer mind and a big smile on my face. Last but not least, I enjoy how everyone is practicing on their own pace and how quite it is since our teacher does not have to lead. Only thing you can hear is the sound of breathing.
All in all, I thought that waking up that early and sleeping earlier in the evening would be hard but I really like it, I believe I could get used to it! I guess time will tell.
congrats on starting a mysore practice! your shala sounds lovely. When I started, I switched from led vinyasa classes in the late afternoon or evening to morning mysore, and I was surprised how much I liked it, and how it was not hard to self practice, sort of a relief, actually. The sound of breathing is great, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh yes it is! And I love how I get all this energy in the morning... it's easier to cope with all the random issues that come up during the day when you have started your day practicing don't you agree?
DeleteThat weekend away sounded amazing :) I've missed going to yoga retreats.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really go away since the immersion took place in my studio (3 weekends to be exacT) but it was so informative and totally worth it!
